Intro to Afro-Latin Jazz

In the Intro to Afro-Latin Jazz workshop students learn the clave, and work on listening and rhythmic skills as they play  interlocking rhythms together. Improvisation is encouraged and supported by the group. Presentation can also be structured for large, interactive school concerts. Culminates in performance. This class introduces the history and culture of Afro-Latin Jazz through its music.

For Schools: Curriculum subjects which may be coordinated with this music workshop include: Geography, History, Latin Culture, Music, Foreign Language (Spanish).

Instructors: Classes are taught by master instructor and world renowned Latin jazz pianist, Arturo O’Farrill and saxophonist Erica von Kleist.
